Favorite Thrift Stores ‘Round NOLA

Confession: I spend way too much time in thrift stores. I adore them. One might even say I have a thrift store “problem.” It doesn’t help that New Orleans has some of the best second-hand shopping in the South.

I don’t know what it is. Could it be the thrill of the find? Could it be the amazing savings? Could it be the story each little tchotchke could tell? (I like to imagine.) It could really be all of the above. I just know that my husband, Rudy, is very grateful that I get my retail therapy at second-hand prices rather than, say, Saks.

Rudy and I also like that 5 of the 7 stores listed below are revenue generators for amazing programs like adult rehabilitation centers, veterans’ programs, and programs dedicated to advancing the well being of women in New Orleans. Can’t ask for much more.

Since people know I have this addiction…errr…love, I am often asked which local stores are my favorites. So, here it is! My list of favorite thrift stores ’round NOLA:

Thrift City USA  &  Red, White & Blue – Westbank

Both happen to be located on the Westbank and a very short drive from one another. Both are 20,000+ sq feet of thrifting heaven, well organized and easy to navigate. Both locations offer awesome daily sales, on top of some of the lowest prices in NOLA, with a huge inventory that changes quickly. Both have ample employees to keep the store clean, stocked, and flowing efficiently. Both offer easy and ample parking. Both are stroller-friendly and have a large supply of shopping baskets to accommodate shoppers. I never leave either location without finding a basket full something I have. to. have. Some of my favorite earthly possessions have come from Thrift City USA or the Westbank Red, White & Blue.

I would love to hear which thrift stores you like best! Leave a note in the comments below.

Say, “Hi!” to ya Momma and ‘nem,
